Metric Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in Elevate K-12 Analytics allow you to track a specific metric and your institution's growth toward meeting goals related to that metric. After selecting the metric, you can specify how success is measured, set numeric goal ranges for the metric, and customize range labels that display for your users.
Once you have created metric KPIs, you can create Matrix KPIs, Assessment Performance Levels, and Visual Indicators.
Open Administration Page
In the Navigation Menu, click the Admin link.
Open KPIs
In the Elevate K-12 Analytics Administration page, click the KPIs link.
Open Metric KPIs
In the Manage KPIs menu, click the Metric KPIs link [1].
Note: On the Manage KPIs Overview page you can click the Metric KPIs link [2].
Add New Metric KPI
Click the Add KPI button.
Select Source Metric
In the General section, click the Source metric drop-down menu [1]. Select a metric from the displayed alphabetical list.
By default, the name of the metric displays in the Name field [2]. However, to enter a different name, you can click the field.
You can also enter a description for the KPI in the Description field [3].
Configure KPI
By default, a new Metric KPI is configured to display two data ranges, or segments. Segments indicate the number of numeric ranges you wish to identify and view in a Metric KPI.
To add segments to your KPI configuration, click the Segments drop-down menu [1]. You can select up to five segments [2].
Configure Standard Direction
Select the direction for your KPI measurement using the Goal direction radio buttons [1].
By default, the Standard option is selected. This means that any number greater than the segment's specified numeral indicates improvement. When selected, the Segment Expression icon displays a greater than symbol [2].
Configure Inverse Direction
You can also select the Inverse option [1]. This means that any number less than the segment's specified numeral indicates improvement. When selected, the Segment Expression icon displays a less than symbol [2].
Configure Inclusive Comparison Basis
Select the KPI basis for comparison using the Comparison basis radio buttons.
By default, the Inclusive option is selected [1]. This means that any number within the set segment range, including the segment specified value, is included in the segment. When selected, the Segment Expression icon displays an equal to symbol [2].
Configure Exclusive Comparison Basis
You can also select the Exclusive option [1]. This means that any number within the set segment range, not including the segment specified value, is included in the segment. When selected, the Segment Expression icon only displays a greater than or a less than symbol [2].
Select Configuration Options
If your institution's goals for a metric change from school year to school year, you can configure metric strands for individual school years. To allow segment values to vary by school year, click the Segment values may vary by school year toggle.
Set Segment Values
Specify the segment values in the Segment field(s) [1]. View how your goal direction and comparison basis selections affect the metric calculations in the Segment Expression icon [2].
The Direction notification indicates whether your segments should display increasing or decreasing values [3].
Note: You can only set segment values for segments two through five (standard) or one through four (inverse). The first segment value represents either zero (for a standard configuration) or one hundred (for an inverse configuration).
Set Segment Labels
Add segment label names in the Display label name field [1].
To select a color for the segment label, click the Color icon [2].
Select Label Color
Use the color picker to select a label color.
You can select a custom color using the Color Saturation pad [1] and Hue Scale slider [2].
You can also enter a color code in the Hex field [3]. Alternatively, if you have RGB color values, click the Switch icon [4]. Then enter the values in the RGB fields [5].
You can also select a color from the standard color palette [6].
Save KPI
Review new metric and click the Save button.
View New Metric KPI
View your KPI in the Metric KPI list.
